You can’t see them with the naked eye, but microbes thrive everywhere in our world, from gardens and kitchens to the harshest environments on the planet.

URI’s Metcalf Institute and the Graduate School of Oceanography will co-host a public lecture and book signing – Life at the Edge of Sight: a Photographic Exploration of the Microbial World – featuring co-authors Scott Chimileski and Roberto Kolter of Harvard University Medical School.

The book, filled with amazing photographic images, gives the reader a stunning visual glimpse of the inhabitants of an invisible world, from the pioneering findings of a seventeenth-century visionary to magnificent close-ups of the inner workings and cooperative communities of Earth’s most prolific organisms. Lecture attendees will see the dazzling display of pigments produced by microbes. Learn more https://bit.ly/2pO58tR.
