Join us for the 27th Annual Ruth Stricker Mind-Body Lecture, featuring Dr. Barbara Fredrickson.

Some of our toughest challenges involve sticking to the healthy goals we set for ourselves. For instance, among those who act on their goals to become physically fit, 60-90% revert back to sedentary behavior within 6-12 months. In this presentation, Dr. Barbara Fredrickson describes her latest theory and evidence on how we might deploy the science of positive emotions in the service of long-term behavioral maintenance. Specifically, she will outline her Upward Spiral Theory of Lifestyle Change and present evidence, from laboratory and field studies, that test it. These discoveries point to practical ways in which we can prioritize positive emotional experiences to help ourselves to meet our toughest health goals
