Join us on an Autism Friendly Train along our beautiful and scenic line!
Please come early and allow yourself to become familiar with the train yard, the ticket building, the boarding platform, the many different train cars and the uniformed staff and volunteers who will be serving you during your excursion on the Secret Valley Line. Many people with Autism benefit when provided the opportunity to avoid long lines and wait time. They also benefit when they are able to see, hear, touch, smell new experiences first-hand. Help us provide a calm, inviting experience by allowing yourself and your loved ones the chance to prevent lines and congestion by coming early, taking pictures, and getting comfortable before departure.
We invite every person with Autism to have their own light and sound sensitivity devices. Generally, sunglasses and soft earplugs are good options. The train whistle is loud and can be jarring to those with sensory issues. Those who have their own sound-canceling earphones are encouraged to bring those along as well. If your son or daughter or if you have a weighted blanket or vest that provides comfort in new situations, please bring that item with you as well.
Because of the variety of dietary concerns, a special exception has been made and we encourage you to bring your own snacks. We will, however, have our a la carte menu available.
We look forward to you joining us for this excursion!
