Venue- Resident Lounge Area(College Square on Swanston)
Salsa dancing represents a mixture of Latin dance/music genres. But the main component of salsa is from Cuban dance and music with the roots of it being from eastern Cuba. Since it's origin it has branched out and multiple sub-genres (Los Angeles Style, New York Style, Cuban Style, Colombian Style etc). The most popular of these dance styles is the LA style of salsa. More than 90% of the dancers in Australia dance LA style of Salsa. So the workshop also teaches the LA style.
Contrary to many other dance styles (Ballet, Ballroom etc.) Salsa is a social dance and not a studio dance. Meaning that the students also get to go out and dance with people they have never met before.
