FROM THE DIRECTOR:
When I first saw the title of this show, I thought WOW, what fun ! The script just drew me in further, and I knew I wanted to direct this wonderfully wacky production!
David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr. have written a whole series of farces about the fictitious Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society!
Meet Mrs Reece, Thelma, and Felicity. By day they are three British middle-class housewives, yet by night they are the stars of their local dramatic society’s play, along with their Stage Manager Gordon, and they let nothing stand in their way! Our cast of 6 play a total of eighteen characters, and present a romance set aboard a cruise ship in the swinging '30s, where the ladies prove that the age of elegance, glamour and enchantment is not dead...well, not quite anyway. This show is implausible, chaotic, funny, surreal and unutterably silly - a classic example of performers who know how to act well and pretend to act badly.
If you love community theatre, you can’t help but get a kick out of this show! For any local play enthusiast there is only one thing better than community theatre, and that’s a community theatre production about a community theatre production…this is the perfect show for just being entertained, laughing and having fun !
