A Weekend of Theater for Young Audiences

Each year, CEC hosts the Jackie White Memorial National Playwriting Contest to find the BEST children's shows from all over the US and Canada! This year's winners will be performed FREE OF CHARGE as staged readings in our annual Jackie White Weekend!

And the winners are:
First Place: Twelve by Alexandra Shields
Performance - Saturday, April 28

Second Place: Fishnapped! By Amy Shepard and Andy Gordon, with music by Raven Tillinghast
Performance - Sunday, April 29

SYNOPSES:
Twelve:
Based on the original classic, Twelve Little Princesses, Twelve is the story of a family of 12 sisters who have been locked away by their father, King Augustus, until a proper suitor can solve a long-standing mystery: the sisters disappear each night...but to where? And HOW?? See what secret they are hiding, and if they can overcome sibling rivalry to break free of their palace imprisonment for good!

Fishnapped!:
Claire's world is turned upside down when her beloved pet goldfish, Blubber, is stolen right under her nose at Saskatoon Squirrels Soccer Camp. She doesn't know who took him - no one does until the audience decides! A fun-filled twist on the classic 'whodunnit?' will keep the audience engaged and puzzling out the culprit from start to customized-finish!
