Regardless of your age, you need to plan for the unexpected. The legality and importance of making a will, the different types of Powers of Attorney, the legal basis for Advance Health Directives and Binding Financial Agreements are just some of the issues which will be examined.

10.30 - 11.30 The key elements of making your will - Dung Lam, Senior Associate, Argyle Lawyers
This session will further examine the effect of divorce and de facto arrangements, the difference between joint tenancy and tenants in common, and assets that may not be covered in a will. You will leave this session with a clear understanding of the estate distribution and the probate process.

11.30 - 12.30pm Avoiding family disputes - Dung Lam, Senior Associate, Argyle Lawyers
To avoid family disputes after you’ve gone, there are a number of issues to consider. These include detail on persons who legally may have a legitimate claim on the estate and details of legislation which may affect will making, for example, family provision requirements.

Laws introduced on 1 July 2017 encourage flexible retirement products that tackle longevity risk. Joshua will provide an overview of the types of annuities available, how to access and maintain them and will also discuss a range of superannuation issues including superannuation and binding death benefits.

3.15 - 4.15pm the ins and outs of aged care - Drew Potts, Principal, Duhring Financial Advisers
The costs of aged care options and support can be daunting. Drew will outline how to assess and compare options. What are the key elements to consider? Will you need to sell your house? What are the ongoing costs? What is means-tested? Whether for now or for the future, this session will help you plan ahead.
