CMM is hosting two major events featuring Susan Burton!! Plan to join us in Baltimore, MD and/or Takoma Park, MD for an opportunity to meet and hear Ms. Burton and other community activists!

Ms. Susan Burton is founder and Executive Director of A New Way of Life, a nonprofit that provides sober housing and other support to formerly incarcerated women. She is nationally known as an advocate for restoring basic civil rights to those who served time.

On Friday May 4th,

She will be joined by Lorig Charkoudian, PhD, Executive Director of Community Mediation Maryland and founder of re-entry mediation. Re-entry mediation was founded in Maryland and has been shown to decrease recidivism. It is now considered a national model, for healing relationships and supporting transition from incarceration to the community.

On Saturday May 5th,

Ms. Burton will be joined by Erricka Bridgeford, co-founder of Baltimore Ceasefire 365 and Community Mediation Maryland's Director of Training. Erricka Bridgeford is committed to promoting peace and empowerment in Baltimore on various platforms including a Ted Talk! She was named Marylander of the Year 2017 for "bringing hope to Baltimore in some of its bleakest hours".

In addition, Mary Brown-Bey, Advocate for Juvenile Justice, AVP (Alternatives to Violence), Re-entry, Justice Policy Proponents, and Returning Citizens Union, will speak. She has tirelessly served the community for more than ten years as a volunteer, facilitator, mediator, mentor, trainer, cases management worker and collaborator. Mary served 32 years and understands the significant challenges faced by returning citizens.

Join us in Takoma Park and/or Baltimore for an evening of thought provoking conversation, community engagement and the opportunity to meet Ms. Susan Burton and purchase a signed copy of her life-affirming book.
