Join us on Saturday, April 28, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM as the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County and Inspire Innovation Lab host a Kids' Science Day at the Comstock House. The topic? Female scientists.
Our day exploring science and history will begin with five stations where costumed teachers discuss both Victorian and 20th century female scientists -- scientists who worked at a time when women's contributions were often ignored or, worse yet, stolen by male peers. Kids will then have a chance to do an activity exploring those scientists' work. For this event, we're focusing on some of the women who made waves at the end of the Victorian Era and into the early 20th century, in fields ranging from archaeology and astronomy to early research in solar energy and DNA.
The cost is $5 for each child, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults with children will be admitted free of charge.
