Following our 6:30 pm service on Friday evening, April 20th, (Res.) Brigadier General Bentzi Gruber will be leading a dinner and discussion in Wolff-Toomim Hall based on his work "Chesed in the Field." Br. General Gruber is Vice Commander (reserves) of Division 252 of the Israel Defense Forces, an armored division of 20,000 soldiers. His non-profit organization, "Chesed in the Field," brings together IDF reservists and chronically ill and disabled children for special events throughout the year instilling the values of community and social responsibility in the hearts of soldiers. Br. General is a friend of the Congregation who regularly meets with participants during our biennial trips to Israel, and we are looking forward to celebrating Shabbat in his honor at Congregation Beth Israel. This dinner and discussion is underwritten by the Stanford and Joan Alexander Family Israel Programming Fund, and there is no cost to attend. Please be sure to RSVP at www.GeneralGruber.eventbrite.com so we can be prepared with sufficient food and seating. For more information, please contact Marsha Gilbert, Special Events and Programming Manager, at (713) 771-6221, ext. 336 or e-mail at mgilbert@beth-israel.org.
