ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rebo is an lifelong student of Brazilian and Afro-Diasporic dance and since 2000, she has shared her love of Brazilian dance through classes and workshops, specializing in styles from of Rio and Bahia. Her areas of interest include samba, sambareggae, "dança afro," and devotional dances of the orixás. In addition to teaching classes in the community to students of all ages, Rebo also collaborates with other instructors to promote workshops and classes in other Afro-Diaspora dance styles. She worked as a choreographer and dance director for the Austin Samba School. She has trained in Brazil and the U.S. with such teachers as Rosangela Silvestre, Ana Laidley, Nildinha Fonseca, Janete Silva Aide, and Agatha Oliveira, among others. Her dance background also includes Afro‐Cuban, West African, salsa, jazz, ballet, modern, and capoeira.
