We’re so excited to announce that Cowabunga’s in Hooksett is offering a Sensory Friendly Event at our facility on Saturday, April 7th from 8 am to 10 am. During this event, we will have ** all three gyms ** open to play in with special modifications to make it more sensory friendly.
Space is limited and online registration is recommend. This can be done at https://mycowabungas.com/events/sensory-friendly-playtime-at-hooksett
This is how our event will work :: From 8 am to 10 am we will be operating as a sensory friendly environment. During this time, we will make many modifications to help make the space more inviting for children with heightened sensory processing.
This includes :
Turning off overhead music
No use of fx/blacklights or blinking lights
Ball blaster cannons & fountain will be turned off, limiting sound.
No use of paging system
Private party room setup with quiet activities for kids who need a break
We understand that transitions can be hard so at 9:45 am staff will go around and give parents and kids a 15 minute warning, as we will need to promptly close the ** private gyms ** at 10 am so we can celebrate with our birthday children who have reserved that space for the day! But, don’t worry you can still play in our open gym after 10 am, until we close at 7 pm, if you really want to!
At 10 am, we will close down the use of our private gyms and resume normal operations. At 10 am we turn on our Ball Blaster components. This only admits a air blasting sound when the buttons are pushed by children. A couple minutes later, we will turn on our music & pick up the items in our “quiet” room. Please let us know if you have any ideas on how we can make this event more sensory friendly!
Thank you for choosing to play at Cowabunga’s. We appreciate your continued support of our locally owned and operated business.
