Introduction to Sewing Soft Furnishings

9:00 am - 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch on your own
Instructor: Susan Woodcock

In this two-day class, students will learn how to use professional workroom equipment including industrial straight stitch, walking foot, overlock and blind hemming machines, grommet and button press and pneumatic staple guns and worktables.

Students will learn how to cut and join fabrics, finish hems, board mount a valance, set grommets and make covered buttons. Included in this class, is an overview of common workroom supplies that are needed to get a workroom up-and-running such as, lining and interlining, buckram, weights, thread, scissors, measuring tools and tips for organizing a small workroom.

The information learned in this class is necessary for taking Level I or Level II fabrication classes.
