In these 8 week courses you will work with Frank on learning & improving either your wheel throwing techniques or your hand building skills. Classes are suitable for both beginners and those who want to increase their skills.
Frank has a Bachelor of Arts – Ceramics major, with additional competencies in the area of glazing technology. He has extensive experience teaching ceramics and has worked as a lecturer, high school and tertiary teacher, and conducts adult classes and workshops.
In the wheel classes you will master centring, learn how to throw different shapes (bowls, mugs, plates), and for more advanced students extend to pieces with handles, lids and spouts. You will also learn to master turning and trimming. The hand building class will include Pinch, Coil and Slab building techniques.
In both classes stains, oxides & glaze will be used to decorate work, and you will explore various glazing techniques and effects.
