Hola dear dancers! :)
Don't know what to do after Easter? Ramba Adeio, a joyful and passionate dancer from Croatia is in Lisbon right now, and will teach 4 hours of REGGAETON ONLY.
When? On Saturday, the 7th of April!

Reggaeton has its origins in Latin America and the Caribbean and has a lot of influence also from Hip Hop. It developed in Puerto Rico and became known as “underground” music. However, the Puerto Rican Reggaeton shouldn’t be mixed up with the Cuban version which is often called Cubaton. Some Cuban artists are for example Chacal, Jacob Forever, Yomil y Dany, Chocolate, El Micha, Los 4, Harrisson… See more below.

About the instructor
Ramba (23) is the founder and principal teacher of the dance school Só Dança which is very active in Zagreb for the last two years. Since childhood she is dancing different styles: from ballet and contemporary to Bollywood, Hip Hop, Salsa and more. She developed her knowledge and skills during years of practice in diverse dance schools in Croatia and Switzerland. Furthermore, she learned from prestigious international dance pedagogues at numerous dance festivals all over Europe.
In 2014, Ramba invented the Afrolatin program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and was leading it until March 2017. The program is now under the guidance of her student and successor Silvija Music. Ramba is performing, but also organising and leading different dance events and workshops in Croatia and abroad, for example: dance and yoga workshop for people with special needs/ES, dance workshop for gifted children/CH, etc.
Ramba was also organising the One Billion Rising flashmob (dance against violence on woman) in Pula, Croatia from 2013-2015.
The name of her school, "Só Dança", means just dance. Don’t judge others because of their skin colour, race, gender or physical appearance and ability – there is only dance.
The reggaeton dance is a mix of a lot of different styles, mostly Hip Hop, Dembow, Salsa, Timba. Often called Sandungueo or perreo is the type of back-to-front dancing, which is very erotic and sexually explicit. Usually man facing the back of a women, this style was seen for the first time seen in Cuba. It is also common in the Caribbean and is the primary form of dancing at clubs and parties. Perreo has been seen as a departure from classical front-to-front dancing (salsa etc.) and has been criticized in Cuba, as woman degrading. In the book “Timba, the sound of the Cuban crisis", Ashgate 2005, Vincenzo Perna, a ethnomusicologist, suggested that this style of dance, along with other timba moves such as despelote, tembleque and subasta de la cintura in which the woman is both in control and the main focus of the dance, can be traced to the economic status of Cuba in the 1990s and to the choreographic forms of popular music dancing of that period, particularly in relation to Afro-Cuban timba. Anyways…a very interesting topic. To experience the moves of Reggaeton, book your ticket know and be there on 7th of April :)
Dont miss this unique opportunity to share the dancefloor with Ramba and her students. See you on the floor !
