Following his sold-out tenth show and in his second #CapturePhotoFestival appearance, award-winning Vancouver photographer Dan Jackson looks to animals in an effort to explore the human condition free from the prescriptive baggage attached to human subjects.
For millennia, people have used the personification of animals to communicate abstract ideas. Animals have adorned the walls of caves and appeared to us in constellations, in folk tales, religious allegories and literature, branding and advertising.
In #Apologue2, Dan Jackson introduces a cast of characters that uses this ancient system of communication to examine modern preoccupations - issues such as class, empathy, decay, love, gluttony and deliverance.
