Queer Dance Series at Dancehouse is a term of free dance classes curated by James Welsby, as part of his 2018 Housemate residency. The programme offers 10 free dance classes exploring queer dance manifestations and possibilities taught in 10 different styles by 10 different teachers.
The aim of the series is to offer high quality and financially accessible (free) dance classes and workshops with a focus on how diversity in gender and sexuality might find expression in dance. The idea is that we create a group that attends every class, or at least a majority of the classes (6 or more). This course is not comprehensive, but aims to highlight some queer dance expressions and provide access to them in an embodied way. We invite you to join in the fun, engage in learning and sharing, and help build community and a broader place for queer dance.
