Darlington Primary School P&C, in partnership with Earnshaws Real Estate, is holding a FREE community workshop in protective behaviours for children.
This is a two and a half hour information evening, conducted by WA Child Safety Services, that will teach parents and carers how to empower their children with the right to feel safe, and how to deal with situations where they may feel unsafe.
These concepts are often already taught in our schools, and most teachers are introducing protective behaviours concepts to children in the classroom. By educating parents in protective behaviours we aim to build the capacity of adults to empower children with the tools to keep them safe.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
• Feelings and Theme 1, “We all have the right to feel safe at all times”.
• Early Warning Signs
• Safety Continuum
• Safe and Unsafe Secrets
• Theme 2, “We can talk with someone about anything no matter what it is”.
• Persistence Expectation
• Body Awareness and Ownership
• Personal Space
• Theme and Program Reinforcement
This workshop is recommended for parents and carers of children aged birth to 12 years old. It is not suitable for children to attend.
This is a free event, but donations to the Darlington Primary School P&C will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
