This month, we're celebrating A PEOPLE'S CHOIR DC's fourth (!) anniversary with a dance party. Which is to say, the theme for this month centers on songs about dancing, and/or songs that have dances associated with them. You can dance if you want to (note to self: add "Safety Dance" to the list), but no pressure. Singing and general merriment are still the main goals of the evening.
Submit your song ideas in the relevant thread below, or on the website (apcdc.weebly.com) by 10:00 AM ET on April 14. As usual, we're going to steer away from songs we've had on a list in the past year (check the archive for all of our lists - http://apcdc.weebly.com/song-archive.html), but it's not a strict rule.
We'll be up on the second floor at DC9 Nightclub. Singing starts at 7:30pm, but come early to enjoy the roof and happy hour. The big, sliding door halfway to the roof should be open shortly after 7:00pm. Bring friends, or come alone. We'll display music videos with lyrics. No singing abilities necessary!
For those of you wondering what this is all about:
A People's Choir DC is a casual sing-along. It isn't a performance; it's a group effort. We play the actual songs (not the karaoke version, without the vocals), with lyrics on the music videos, and you can stand around or sit or dance...and sing.
If you don't know a song, no worries - make up the tune as you go or just sit it out. There is no sheet music at A People's Choir, only song lyrics, which we'll provide (on music videos and a few paper copies).
We don't care about your singing ability, just your enthusiasm - and we're pretty flexible in that area as well. Just show up and enjoy yourself! It's free.
