Join moderators Don Hommen and Lyle Otte for a public discussion of Professor Nancy MacLean’s new book “Democracy in Chains” at 7 p.m. Tuesday April 10 in the lower level meeting room at Decorah Public Library.
“Democracy in Chains” traces the roots and development of the economic and political ideology that dominates the Republican Party today. The author, a professor of history at Duke University, examines James McGill Buchanan, who founded the Virginia School of political economy in 1956. She also discusses his connection with Charles and David Koch. An economic libertarian, Buchanan and his followers taught many of the right wing political leaders of today.
The book is available at Decorah Public Library and Dragonfly Books.
