Winnie Madikizela-Mandela OLS, commonly known as Winnie Mandela, was a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician. She held several government positions, including as Deputy Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology.

She was also a member of the African National Congress (ANC) party, and served on the ANC’s National Executive Committee and headed its Women's League.

Winnie will always be remembered as Africa's most iconic female activist who was never embraced by the West. Born Nomzamo Winifred Zanyiwe Madikizela on 26 September 1936 Bizana, Pondoland, South Africa, she passed on at the Netcare Milpark Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday 2 April 2018

The event will feature a panel of Distinguished professors from University of Toronto.
