Wauking Song noun A rhythmical song traditionally sung in Gaelic by fullers while fulling tweed cloth.

We invite you to come & be a part of designermakers21 Waulking Day

11-1pm Felting & Weaving with Janine & Kim
This is for practising felters, weavers & spinners to come with their craft and create as a group, inspiring each other & growing the textile community at designermakers21.
This is not a taught workshop but we are there to assist.

1-2pm Lunch for all
We will be providing soup to share, please feel free to bring a contribution if you wish.

2-4pm Waulking songs with Janet Koralambe
Warm up singing excerises, call & response singing & improvisation. Learn one waulking song while fulling cloth that has been created in the morning. Fulling cloth may also be a large piece of woven cloth.
Waulking songs involve a group of people rhythmically beating newly woven tweed to soften it. Simple beat driven songs, often by call & response, are used to accompany the work.
