Destination Cellars in collaboration with Tasmania's Charles Oates Distillery and Cerbaco from France, invite you to a very special evening celebrating and exploring the great apple brandy spirit Calvados. This promises to be a wonderful event for the lover of top quality spirits, held in our 'Dram Room'.
The Apple Isle is now producing top quality fine apple brandy that rates alongside that of traditional French Calvados - named after the appellation region of Normandy. Tim Jones, the head cider maker and distiller at Willie Smith's and Charles Oates will take us through a range of his apple brandy, giving us an insight as to why the future is bright for this spirit in Tasmania and also what makes it unique and different from its French counterpart. Mikael Gillard from Cerbaco Spirits will then take us through an exceptional selection of traditional Calvados varieties to enjoy, contrast and compare.
The line up will be as follows:
Charles Oates signature Apple Blanco cocktail on arrival.
Paired tasting of Charles Oates Pommeau and Le Pere Jules 5YO Pommeau de Normandie
Paried tasting of Charles Oates Tokay Barrel Fine Apple Brandy Single Cask and Charles Oates Muscat Barrel Fine Apple Brandy Single Cask.
