Police say they saw an object in Stephon Clark’s hand before they fired 20 bullets that killed him in his back yard Sunday night in Sacramento, a disturbing moment that was made public through body camera footage released Wednesday night.
After first saying #StephonClark had a gun, then changing it to a crowbar, then admitting he just had a cell phone, we now learn that the Sacramento Police shot this man 20 times in his own backyard.
We are holding a vigil to stand in solidarity with Stephon Clark's family, the city of Sacramento and all people impacted by police violence. We hope to provide a space for people to grieve, share their feelings and build community.
We will be providing candles but feel free to bring your own.
