The Harrisonburg Rockingham NAACP and Faith in Action are excited to co-sponsor the Phase I and Phase II training. The trainers are from the Racial Equity Institute (REI). The training process is to understand systemic racism and “designed to help leaders and organizations who want to proactively understand and address racism, both in their organization and in the community where the organization is working.”

REI’s Phase I workshop on April 27 and 28, a Friday and Saturday from 8:30-5:00. The Phase II workshop in the Fall of 2018, also a two-day training. The goals of these workshops are:

Phase I: “This is a two-day long process – that helps to provide talking points, historical factors and an organizational definition of racism. REI believes that organizations are often working in very intentionally civil ways yet operating from multiple understandings that rely more on personal feelings and popular opinion. This creates complications to the goal of eliminating racial and ethnic disparities and producing equitable outcomes.”
