Featuring a rich tapestry of plucked strings, lush harmonies, unique song-writing and a diverse range of influences from The Beach Boys to Bach, Diamond Duck release their highly anticipated debut EP at Django Bar, Marrickville on Thursday May 10. “Evoking the close harmony singing of the Everly Brothers and Simon Garfunkel, Diamond Duck explore an unusual, almost twisted sound in their accompaniment while maintaining a sweetness in their vocal delivery...there is something a little off kilter and it’s absolutely delicious” - Timber & Steel.
Normally in duo mode this performance will feature some very special guests including, Oliver Miller on Cello, Vanessa Tammetta on Violin, Gary Daley on Accordion and Azz Woo on vocals.
Opening the night will the be the incredible Bonniesongs. Bonnie Stewert's sweet ethereal vocals sail over the polyrhythmic backgrounds created between her guitar, percussion and vocal loops. Her imaginative lyrics tell stories of treehouses, mice, birds, flying and video games. Described as “dreamy experimental indie folk” and compared to artists such as Bjork and Joanna Newsom, Bonniesongs is creating a unique sound in the Sydney songwriting scene.
