Bilingual storyteller, percussionist and speech pathologist, Mama Edie Armstrong has been storytelling professionally since 1989. Founding Co-Chair of Ase: The Chicago Association of Black Storytellers, she also served as Membership Chair of NABS Inc. (National Association of Black Storytellers) for 9 years. Mama Edie’s work is inspired by her passionate regard for her African and Native American ancestries. Having performed stories of peace and empowerment in countries such as Ghana, Benin, South Africa, Mexico, India and Trinidad, she is increasingly appreciated as a Storytelling Ambassador of Peace and Social Justice.
