Hey friends! We're pumped to be making our return to the Decker April 14th to release our new EP!! And we are so happy we'll be joined by our friends Jan Ek and DJ B Zwax Hammy! Jan's going to do a solo set to open the night and Blake's gonna bring the dance party on hard with spins from his record collection! WOOOO! Time to shake off those Wintery cobwebs and let 'er buck, y'all!

Doors at 9:30, Show starts at 10 SHARP (show up early to get yourself a good seat and help create good vibes) and the party goes til 2! Cover is $10.

The Young Pixels are Danny and Tricia Turner, a married garage-pop duo from rural Manitoba. The pair switch equally between electric guitar, drums and harmonizing vocals to create a simple rock 'n roll sound that is both gritty and melodic. "Cool, heart-tugging crunchy guitar-based indie rock...think Neil Young and Pixies."-(Grant Lawrence, CBC Radio 3 host, CBC Searchlight.)

The Pixels' upcoming EP, "Fever of Becoming" is an introspective offering for the truth-seeker, thinker and dreamer. It explores themes of identity, worth, purpose, belonging and ambition. It's the story of the human desire to move toward the dream that calls, the limitations we all must face, and who we become along the way. For the Turners, it's the challenge to balance artistic yearnings with family life and responsibilities.

When not making music, the Turners live an unschooling and organic farming lifestyle with their 3 young sons near Kenton, Manitoba.

Jan Ek is a Juno nominated singer/songwriter/guitarist with a truly unique history of musical performance in Canada and beyond. Mostly known as a pioneer with much acclaim in both the early 80’s hardcore punk and hard rock scenes, he has since reinvented himself as a solo musician that transcends genre.

With only an acoustic guitar and a sometimes used harmonica, Jan has honed a collection of songs that draws from many influences including folk, pop, reggae and alternative.

Dynamic, heartfelt vocals showcase a broad range of abilities, style and nuance - subtle whispering, soaring sustained notes and growling street inflections are all coherently collected within a playful, rebellious yet compassionate personality.

He easily captures attention with catchy and endearing original songs or fearless interpretations of classics from some of the greatest such as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, David Gray, or The Smiths. These selections are carefully chosen to achieve an emotional and intimate connection beyond most artist/audience relations.

In a barebones performance that is stark and revealing, Jan exposes the machinations of heart, mind and body and dares you to witness, to feel along with him, this exploration of our very nature in song.

Whether he's busting guts with his cutting sense of humour, slaying branches in the highest treetops, teaching a fairly fierce yoga class, pulling out his crazy capoeira moves or growing a prolific garden, Blake Hamilton loves to bring the party. He'll be spinning some records from his collection to keep the dance party goin' allllllll night loooooooong!

Everyone over 18 is welcome and it's important to us that this is a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for ALL. Please do your part:)
Can't wait to see you!
