On Tuesday, April 10 at 6:30 pm we will be visited by Norma Pankratz, Secretary of the National Carousel Association. Norma will talk about the restoration of the historic Kit Carson County Carousel located in Burlington, Colorado.
Widely admired as a spectacular carousel with quality carving, the Kit Carson County Carousel has undergone meticulous restoration. Its story began at Elitch Gardens. It was purchased and relocated under the authority of Kit Carson County commissioners but was put into storage when opinions about its purchase became divided. Because it was inappropriately stored, it was nearly ruined and would have remained so had it not been for the love it was given by a community of dedicated volunteers. Norma was integral to that story.
Once you learn about the old carousel, it will be on your “Must See” list of summer outings.
