Phil Burgess will lead us on a geology field trip at Pikes Peak State Park near McGregor, Iowa. Learn about how the Wisconsin and Mississippi River valleys were carved and about the bedrock formations comprising the bluffs. The group will hike down along the boardwalk to Bridal Veil Falls and will learn more about the unique microbial tufa cone at its base.
Interested individuals are invited to return to the Wetlands Centre after the field trip to view and discuss the PBS webinar by Eric Carson titled, "Did the Ancient Wisconsin River Once Flow East?".
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn about this area with one of our local experts! We will meet at the Wetlands Centre at 1:00pm and will carpool to Pikes Peak. The field trip is open to all ages and includes a hike up and down hills along boardwalk trails at Pikes Peak.
