The Dublin Community Center will offer a second session of the Monadnock Code Club starting Monday, April 2. The six week session will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. It is open to public, private and home school students in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in the Dublin area. Non-Dublin students will be considered on a space-available basis. Cost for this session is $30. Scholarships are available. The club will not meet during Spring Recess and the final session will be May 17.
The instructor for this session is Brett Scharmett, a ConVal High School senior and president of the ConVal Robotics Team. Brett is also a four-year mentor of the South Middle School Robotics Team and webmaster for the Milford Drive-In Theater. He will be a mechanical engineering student at Florida State University in the Fall. Brett plans to start each Code Club session with an outdoor activity before coming inside to develop computer code skills using sprites, coordinates, if statements, loops & operators and variables. The students will spend the last few sessions creating computer games.
Assisting Brett will be Volkert Volkersz, program coordinator at the Dublin Community Center and a retired school librarian. To receive a registration form or for more information email Volkert at firstname.lastname@example.org. The DubHub is located at 1123 Main Street in Dublin.
