Who Art Thou…Claude Monet?
In the Monet series we will explore the art of texture in its
many forms. As we learn about the life and art of Monet, we
will use the cloze procedure technique to take notes in our Art
& Kustom Kreations sketchbooks. Each week of the Who Art
Thou series will begin with a collage to represent characteristics
about the featured artist and coincide with those of your little
artist. A tissue paper collage as a study of Monet’s Red Water
Lillies will move the week right along. Wednesday and Thursday
will be “paint days”, so please send your little artist to class
with an oversized shirt or smock. On Wednesday, we will learn
about symmetry through reflection and landscape when we
create layered collages. We will explore the wonderful world of
watercolors to paint the layers of our design before cutting and
gluing. On Thursday, we will use acrylic paint to create 3D café
or restaurant scenes as a study of Monet’s, The Luncheon. The
week will conclude with drawing. We will focus on the use of
graphite and charcoal along with various techniques to represent
different textures in a beachscape scene fashioned after the
artist’s La plage de Trouville. Our Monet class is perfect for the
little artist who is infatuated with tactile assemblage in their
artistic expression.

Who Art Thou…Andy Warhol?
In the Andy Warhol series, we will explore color theory and
pattern as self-expression. As we learn about the life and art
of Warhol, we will use the cloze procedure technique to take
notes in our Art & Kustom Kreations sketchbooks. Each week
of the Who Art Thou series will begin with a collage to represent
characteristics about the featured artist and coincide with
those of your little artist. Our week will continue as we learn
about portrait drawing, and draw not one, not two, not three
sec portraits, but FOUR in a grid pattern. Wednesday and
Thursday will be “paint days”, so please send your little artist to
class with an oversized shirt or smock. On Wednesday, we will
learn about color theory and use watercolor paint to create our
own color wheels inclusive of primary, secondary, and tertiary
colors. On Thursday, we will examine different color schemes
that are believed to evoke certain emotions and use our favorites
to paint the 4 faces that we drew on Tuesday. This will be
a study of Warhol’s famous paintings of Marilyn Monroe. The
week will conclude with a detailed drawing utilizing patterns
while learning to blend different color oil pastels to create new,
varied colors. The Andy Warhol series is perfect for the little
artist who loves color and has a personality bigger than life!
