Who Art Thou…Vincent van Gogh?
Join us we explore Vincent van Gogh and his exceptional
talent in expressing mood through the use of shades,
highlights, and line. As we learn about the life and art of
van Gogh, we will use the cloze procedure technique to take
notes in our Art & Kustom Kreations sketchbooks. Each
week in the Who Art Thou series begins with a collage to
represent characteristics about the featured artist that coincide
with those of your little artist. The week continues with
graphite and charcoal drawings reflecting our new-found
knowledge of light source and shading while studying The
Starry Night. Wednesday and Thursday are “paint days”, so
please send your little artist to class with an oversized shirt
or smock. Beginning with watercolor, then moving onto
acrylic, we will explore expression of mood through color,
as in van Gogh’s many cheery sunflower paintings. On our
final day, we will use oil pastel to discover the way lines can
express inner emotion, as in van Gogh’s paintings of his doctor
and his postman. This class is sure to facilitate your little
artist in the positive and successful expression of their most
inner feelings.

Who Art Thou…Leonardo da Vinci?
In the da Vinci series of our Who Art Thou series, we will
explore visual expression of human and mechanical form
and focus on true-to-life proportion. As we learn about
the life and art of da Vinci, we will use the cloze procedure
technique to take notes in our Art & Kustom Kreations
sketchbooks. Each week of the Who Art Thou series will
begin with a collage to represent characteristics about the
featured artist and coincide with those of your little artist.
The week will continue with a lesson in portrait drawing
while studying da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. The lesson will be
extended into learning to draw the human form coinciding
with a study of an age appropriate version of the Vitruvian
Man. Wednesday and Thursday will be “paint days”, so
please send your little artist to class with an oversized shirt
or smock. Watercolors will be used to paint our Vitruvian
men on Wednesday, and on Thursday acrylic sepia washes
will be used to paint our choice of a face or human form.
On Friday, the week will conclude with a test of our math
skills as we render OUR most intelligent and creative innovation
after learning about da Vinci’s many inventions. The
da Vinci series is perfect for little artists with a mechanical
mind and an aptitude for pinpoint accuracy
