Mason is an art historian with an MA in Art History and Museum Practice from the University of Minnesota. She writes about the visual arts and architecture for local, regional and national publications.

Mason has been a visual arts curator at Intermedia Arts, Director of Two Rivers Gallery at the Minnepolis American Indian Center, the Director of the Goldstein Museum of Design, and the Director of the MN Percent for Art in Public Places program. She worked as project director for public artist and community activist Seitu Jones, and has consulted with numerous artists and arts organizations such as Public Art Saint Paul. Mason will join the DAI to discuss writing about art that has a cultural and ethnic basis.
