What is NVC about?

NVC is about reframing how we express ourselves, how we hear others and how we resolve conflicts by focusing our consciousness on what we are observing, feeling, needing and requesting. It is a tool that leads us toward a quality of connection among people where everyone's needs are valued and get met through compassionate giving - out of the joy of contributing to another human being.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” Viktor E. Frankl

Testimonials

Filipa Hope brought NVC to our community and it has had a deep and lasting impact within the relationships we have with each other, and also our wider communities. The two day workshop was full of rich learning in how to access a language that seeks to meet each of our needs, nurturing our care and understanding for each other. The best thing about the learning was that it spread deeper into each of our lives than we had originally imagined it would. The way in which we talk with our families, friends, children and partners has become richer in connection. Filipa has a way of guiding this work to meet each of the needs of the group before her, we were a varied bunch of people and each walked away taking learning with us to use in our daily lives. The investment we made with ourselves and our time with Filipa was definitely worth it. It’s a workshop that will change the way you look at communication with yourself and those in your lives for good. - Traceylee, kindergarten teacher

As a mother, I was thrilled to meet Filipa and blown away when I attended her introductory course. Her way of teaching, the tools and insights are life-changing, inspiring and exciting for me. I have since started an NVC practise group (free of charge) and asked Filipa to come to Dunedin to offer her course here. I can't wait to meet more people who take this opportunity to learn about NVC and communication for connection. Investing in this kind of learning is worth every penny! Organizer - Jorinde Rapsey

"Thank you so much for allowing Shayne and I to attend your NVC parenting workshop that your recently facilitated. We both feel that working alongside our Dads and families and within Kidz need Dadz Hawkes Bay that this course will be very helpful indeed. It both meet our expectations and exceeded them. We
were not prepared for how this parenting course would also spill into our own personal lives and be so useful in how we communicate within our own organisation and with others in our sector that we work in. I would strongly recommend the course for other organisations that are involved with working alongside families in the community. What peaceful workplaces and communities we would have if we could all learn to communicate in this non violent way.
I wish you all the very best and look forward to working with you in the near future with the hope of you to be able to deliver a presentation to our Dads at our Dadzkare meetings." couple

"Filipa's individualized style of teaching, and extensive knowledge made understanding the basic process very simple. I really enjoyed the thought
and preparation that went into each session, which seemed to be uniquely fitted to our group. This simple, yet profound technique has had a positive impact in all my relationships. My parenting has become more flexible, allowing greater connection with my daughter. Understanding my own needs and hers makes setting and communicating boundaries much clearer, with fewer struggles for both of us. I would encourage anyone who wishes to have more meaningful and satisfying communications to learn this method." parent

"I have discovered that NVC is essential training for anyone that wants to have and maintain satisfying relationships with everyone in their lives but especially the children in their care. Everyone that works with children whether they be

a parent or a teacher will benefit from the skills in this programme.
When you work with Filipa, you feel that she really understands this way of connecting with others at a cellular level. She walks the talk, which I found both inspirational and motivating" childcare manager
