Which role can communities and citizens play in the appreciation of heritage and in shaping new purposes for historical buildings? Join our Culture Talk on storytelling and community engagement in heritage.
Indian architect Aishwarya Tipnis of Aishwarya Tipnis Architects will share her experiences and approach to community engagement in heritage and architectural projects in India. She has used creative methods like mental mapping, painting competition, comic book workshop and heritage walks to involve the local communities in shaping these projects.
Hasti Tarekat of Heritage Hands On will talk about the tour app, i-Discover App&Map Colombo. This app showcases accessible information about the historical neighbourhoods in Colombo in Sri Lanka, including traces of Dutch presence in the past. In developing this app, Hasti and her team collected and integrated stories of local inhabitants of the historical city.
