Mindfulness: An 8-Week Series to Reduce Stress, Increase Self-Awareness and Wake-Up to Life
Mindfulness seems to be everywhere these days. Have you wondered what all the fuss is about and how the practice of mindfulness can improve your daily life?
“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment,” Jon Kabat-Zinn, creator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program.
For most of us, when this vividness occurs, it is unexpected, maybe while walking on a mountain trail on a crisp autumn day, or being so focused in work or play that you are not thinking about past or future, or connecting with someone in a way that makes it seems like time is standing still. This state of being alive and whole in the present moment is always available, but it typically eludes us, especially in times of difficulty and external pressures.
Join Karen Andujar for an 8-week exploration into mindfulness where you will learn tools to cope with stress and challenges of everyday life, and learn how to be fully present and alive in the moment. What to expect: Each session will include a short hatha yoga practice, a talk on the topic of the week, and a mindfulness meditation practice. Topics will include, the science and myths of mindfulness, the power of awareness, mindful listening, focused and open awareness, mindful eating and drinking, and mindful movement.
Participants will receive a mindfulness journal and handouts of articles and instructions for the practices.
