Kayak to your own private island!
Paddle with the authors, Bill and Mary Burnham, to Holly Bluff Island, a private lodge at the southern tip of Virginia's Eastern Shore, surrounded by wildlife refuge and some of the best paddling on the East Coast.
A 1920s fishing cabin will be our basecamp for 3 days (2 nights) of paddling around barrier islands like Mockhorn, Smith Island (home of the Cape Charles Lighthouse) and Fisherman Island.
We will collect oysters, crabs and/or clams for a seafood roast on the deck.
From your perch at the southern tip of Virginia's Eastern Shore, visited by Capt. John Smith in 1608, view barrier islands, birds on the Atlantic Flyway, and in the distance the Cape Charles Light and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
Cost: $795 per person, includes sea kayak and gear, instruction as needed, guide service, all meals, lodging, and boat transport of our gear and food to the island while we paddle. 10% discount for bringing your own sea kayak.
