Saint George is not only the Patron Saint of England but also of Scouting, chosen by Baden-Powell himself as he believed the legend of Saint George set a good example of faith, courage and perseverance for future generations.
The 23rd of April each year is therefore a major event in the Scouting calendar, marked by our St Georges Day parade. We kindly request that as many of our young people as possible attend this event not only to celebrate Scouting but to also renew their promise, as a Beaver, Cub or Scout.
This years parade will take place on Sunday 22nd April meeting at 1:45pm. We will meet in Eastrop Park near the main car park. As you can imagine there will be hundreds of young people getting dropped off for this event so access will be limited. Parking is available locally or in the town centre.s. We expect the event to finish around 3:00pm. Collection will be from the War Memorial Park near the Band Stand.
Full uniform is required for this event. You are more than welcome to stay and watch the parade as many parents do. If you do have any questions in the meantime please do speak to one of your section leaders or simply reply to this email.
We really hope to see you on the day.
