The downtown is the heart of every city. The Downtown Hammond Council/DHC wants to help make our downtown a vibrant destination!
We need your help to clear away the winter's debris. We invite you to roll up your sleeves and help us add curb appeal to our Downtown!
The Downtown Hammond Council/DHC
Spring Clean-up & Beautification Project is scheduled for
Saturday, May 19 from 9 am – 1 pm!
*Rain date: Saturday, June 9
-Volunteers are welcome to help during the entire event or as their schedule allows between 9 am - 1 pm.
-Volunteers should sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave.
-If you are not available to help on May 19 we invite you to help us any time during the month of May!
-Put together a team! (Co-workers, family, friends, etc.) Everyone is welcome to join us.
(Children must have adult supervision.)
-If you would like to volunteer, email or text Karen/DHC President at firstname.lastname@example.org or text at 219.512.4298.
-Advise the first and last names of volunteers
-Advise name of business/organization (if applicable)
-Advise time frame that you are available to volunteer
Meet and register at EAT, 5201 Hohman Avenue, Downtown Hammond, Indiana
-Registration table and tools/supplies will be set up on Sibley Blvd. near the alley by Paul Henry's Art Gallery.
-Volunteers will receive a free gift when they return the tools and supplies/when they have finished their shift.
-Coffee and donuts will be available for volunteers at registration courtesy of El Taco Real Restaurant and EAT.
-Please wear either a Downtown Hammond Council/DHC t-shirt or clothing that promotes YOUR Team/organization.
Wear layers so that depending on the weather you are comfortable.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Don't forget to wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
-During the clean-up, volunteers will be asked to pull weeds, pick up trash, sweep the sidewalks, and curbs.
Volunteers will provide you with a map of the area that you will be assigned to spruce up.
Assignments will be provided at registration.
Clean-up Area in Downtown Hammond:
Sibley Boulevard to Highland Street along Hohman Avenue and one block east and west of Hohman.
-Due to Hammond Home Depot's generosity, we have a supply of brooms, dustpans, rakes, gloves, etc.
However, if you can bring your own tools/implements, that would be very helpful in ensure that we have enough supplies to go around.
If you bring your own tools, please mark your name on the tools.
