Global Environmental Politics in the Amazon
Brasilia and Santarem, Brazil
January 6 – 19, 2019
This winter break CSU faculty-led program will be co-taught by Dr. Michele Betsill (CSU) and Dr. Cristina Inoue (University of Brasilia) and will include students from CSU and the University of Brasilia. This course will explore the study and practice of global environmental politics in the Brazilian Amazon and will examine challenges facing Brazil such as environmental degradation, pollution, and climate change. Students will apply international relations theories and concepts to understand various dimensions of global environmental problems such as biodiversity loss and climate change and efforts to address these problems from the global to the local level.
