Renee Schwartz is back! Join her to learn about Montessori and Waldhoff educational techniques.

A Comparison of Language Arts in Montessori and Waldorf

In a workshop filled with time to test out hands-on learning materials and examine student work, participants will explore, discuss, and compare the Montessori and Waldorf approaches.

We will begin with the Fourth Great Lesson, The Story of Written Language, then look closely at Montessori Language Arts materials for the Elementary classroom. Come see firsthand how Grammar and Word Study can be presented in a lively, fun, and hands-on way using these beautiful European materials. The materials can also be used remedially with middle school students. More inspiration will come as we look at the Steiner/Waldorf scope and sequence of Language Arts in the 1st through 8th grade years, and see how the students create a portfolio of wonderful handwritten books. Both methods use exciting techniques which can be adapted to the traditional classroom or homeschool environment, and are particularly helpful for teachers who differentiate instruction.
