This workshop explores the changes that occur in the female body as a result of menopause. We will look at the natural process of menopause, symptoms and the role hormones play in changing muscle tone, flexibility and other aspects of the physical body. We will also explore the role of exercise as a way to mitigate some of these effects and how mind-body exercise, in particular, helps to manage hormone balance, muscles tone, inflammation, pain, and sleeplessness. You will also leave with a better understanding of how to provide quality training for clients based on their individual menopausal experience.
Menopause is a natural process which occurs in the aging female body. For a long time, it was not discussed or discussed in hushed tones and was something women endured in silence. For a while, in an attempt to deal with some of the side effects of menopause, hormone therapies were prescribed regularly. Today these therapies are linked to additional health issues and risks, including cancer.
