In the 1800s, the fertile hills just south of Bristol were cultivated to grow a huge variety of fruits and vegetables. This gently-rolling terrain was widely known as the “Bristol Fruit Hills.” Fruit was so abundant on these hills that farmers once filled entire railroad cars with produce to be sold at markets throughout the region. Join us as we reveal why this area was primed for fruit farming and how far the fruits of labor from this unique agricultural environment extended across the country.
