What's going on in your garden? At the Soil Clinic you will learn about the condition of the soil in your lawn and gardens and how you can improve it to help help them flourish. Bring a two-cup sample of your soil to the class to discover your soil pH, texture, organic matter and other essential physical and chemical characteristics that are important for plant growth.
About the instructor: Dr. Cooper taught beginning soils for 35 years in California and Minnesota with a hands-on teaching style. He was also the soil judging coach and worked with many student projects on soil properties.
Dr. Cooper has a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Michigan State University where he first became interested in teaching others about Soil Science. He spent five years at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California, and then moved to the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus. His experience in teaching includes both lecture, lab and field. He especially likes to work with people to improve their soil knowledge so they can improve their soil for better plant growth.
