How can housing programs help prevent hospital visits and reduce healthcare costs for families and local governments?

THDA invites you to join the conversation at a one-day forum on May 15 at the Murfreesboro Embassy Suites.

We'll show you how cities, hospitals, and nonprofits are successfully teaming up to achieve these goals in Tennessee.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with an update on the ongoing work of Tennessee's Interagency Task Force on Health & Housing from two of its leaders: Jim Shulman, executive director of the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, and Lorrie Shearon, chief strategy officer at THDA.

Next, a number of leading innovators from the housing and healthcare sectors will come together for a panel discussion of the partnerships and programs they've launched recently in Tennessee and surrounding states:

• Rorie Scurlock, Senior Director, Homelessness/Community Engagement, United Way of Greater Atlanta
• Hersh Fernandes,Senior Technical Assistance Specialist, Green & Healthy Homes Initiative
• Laura Swanson, Civil Rights Compliance and Strategy Officer, THDA

After lunch, we'll bring together a panel of experts on aging in place and opportunities to bring healthcare costs under control:

• Jackie Mayo, Executive Director, HomeSource east Tennessee
• Michelle Mitchell, Service Coordinator, Emerald Housing Management
• Laura Swanson, Civil Rights Compliance and Strategy Officer, THDA
