Mum and baby yoga and massage class

Please know that these classes are open to your babies carer , grand parents , father , child minder etc should you not be able to attend the class yourself .

For babies 6 weeks - 6 months ( crawling)

Monday 16th April - 21st May (5 week block £40) ( No class Monday 7th May due to bank Holl )
and 4th june -9th july ( 6 week block ) £45

After the birth of your baby you will find you will need yoga more than ever to help give you strength , support and healing and time for you .
The classes consist of gentle yoga poses for you and your baby , helping to increase confidence and deepen the bond with your baby .( suitable 6 weeks after the birth of your baby ( 10 weeks for c section births )

The poses help to encourage your baby s development , fine motor skills , improve sleep , relieve colic , wind , improving sensory awareness and co ordination and helping to build trust .

You will also learn massage techniques to use on your baby - helping to dispel anxiety and trauma , muscles contract to to inhibit emotional or physical pain , massage releases this tension in the muscles and so lessons intensity of the emotion , helpful if the pregnancy or labour was difficult.

For mothers it will provide a safe haven , time to be around like minded mums in a non judgemental environment , a chance to share and discuss their experiences , worries or concerns . Helping to ease postnatal depression , helping you to gain strength ,stamina , confidence and time for you to be you and time for you to relax .

If you would like to attend these classes please do let me know as numbers will be limited .

What to Bring to Class

For you

Wear comfortable clothing to allow yourself to move and stretch .
Nursing bra if breast feeding make breastfeeding quick and convenient.

blanket and pillow/nursing pillow

For Baby

Bring a blanket for baby to lay or sit on during class.
Favorite toy
Bring into studio:
baby carrier, if using one
diaper bag: bottles, spit up blankets, an extra outfit, diapers, wipes and bag for diapers.


What to do with Baby During Class

Baby does not have to participate in any or all of the class.There are no expectations or judgement here . Mum has full freedom to involve baby or allow baby some rest/alone time or to feed when needed .

Do whatever you need to do to keep baby and you happy. ( change nappy, breast or bottle feed, walk around the room, pause/breath, offer a toy, hum/sign/talk to soothe baby, etc.)

A Note About Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is welcomed! Mum and Baby Yoga is the perfect place to explore breastfeeding in public.

For those who bottle feed: you are still nursing your baby, feeding your baby and supporting your baby .

Take time during class to gaze at baby, feel your breath and baby’s breath, look, explore baby. You are nurturing baby through touch, breath, sound, eyes and food.
