Join Museum Education Coordinator, Kyle Sandler, for a presentation on the influence of the Shaker “Aesthetic” on Modern Design. In this talk, we will discuss the history of Shaker Design and answer such questions as “what makes an item Shaker?”, “is there one Shaker style?”, and “why did it appeal to early twentieth century architects and furniture makers?”. Additionally, we will discuss how Shaker pieces came to the public’s attention in the 1920s and 1930s.
