The State of Colorado is seeking competitors for Go Code Colorado, a free business plan and app-development challenge with $70,000 in cash prizes that tasks teams of 2 or more to develop tools or insights for businesses using state-published open data.
Entirely free to participate, with food, drinks & beer provided (thanks to Great Divide!), we’re excited to share that 10 finalist teams will earn $2,500 each, an invitation to an immersive mentor weekend in Boulder with tech and business leaders, and the opportunity to present their product to judges at a final event in June where 3 winning teams will earn an additional $15,000 each.
This year, there are no contracts or IP transfer; what teams build is theirs to keep. Past winning teams have developed business ideas using state data on mountain biking trails, farmers markets, highway sound levels, water rights, pedestrian counts and more.
Since 2014, hundreds of developers, designers, business and marketing professionals, analysts, entrepreneurs and other big thinkers have competed. Friday night will be used for team formation & data exploration, Saturday & Sunday for developing ideas, and Sunday night teams for pitching to judges. Competing is a great way to meet new people, network with employers, gain startup experience, and possibly win substantial amounts of money.
We're really excited Go Code will be at Epicentral in Colorado Springs, kicking off on Friday April 13th at 6pm and continuing through the weekend. About 300 participants are expected statewide, but more competitors are needed for Colorado Springs. Do you have what it takes to win?
We promise it will be a great time no matter what! No team required in advance, show up on Friday night and find a team upon arrival if needed.
