Once a year we offer the opportunity to buy plants original to Eudora Welty’s garden. On Saturday, April 14, we’ll feature a limited number of gardenias grown from cuttings of the bush in the side yard. There will also be plants that have been divided from those growing in the historic Welty garden, plus various other unusual perennials and annuals including tall daylilies, (Welty’s favorite) blue French Roman hyacinth bulbs in pots, butterfly ginger, strawberry begonias, alstroemeria, and Dianthus 'Bath's Pink.' ‘Fortune's Double Yellow’ climbing rose (pictured here blooming on the Welty trellis) will also be available.
The sale will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.—or earlier if everything sells quickly. We’ll give you a brief history of the plants and all the information you need to take care of them. Payment by cash or check only—no cards for this. All sales directly benefit the garden. Come see us!
